Autism College in Wales

A project much anticipated by students is the new centre of excellence for Autism education in Wales. Coleg Elidyr is one of the leading Welsh Autism colleges and their highly developed staff deliver unique learning programmes in this sector.

The new college buildings will feature covered walkways connecting the learning hubs and includes a central piazza or gathering space for breaks, day events and outside learning sessions.

Workshops and learning spaces are designed to maximise daylight, provide flexible workstations, individual staff offices, resource storage and tea and recreational areas for all student groups.

A generous learner’s forum will be open outside teaching hours to engender social interaction and integration. The colour scheme and material palette has been developed with the learners in workshops with the design team to provide a tailored environment that reflects learner needs and a strong sense of vernacular place making.
